Budanilkantha Municipality successfully organized the “Special Ability Motivation Program” (विशेष क्षमता प्रेरणा कार्यक्रम) on April 23, 2026, with the support of Nepal Disabled Women Association, Autism Care Society Nepal, and Blind Youth Association Nepal. The event aimed to promote the rights, participation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
The program featured a variety of engaging activities, including yoga sessions, face painting, boccia games, dance performances by persons with disabilities, craft stalls, and other interactive experiences. Participants from diverse age groups, social backgrounds, and disability types came together, making the event a vibrant and inclusive space. It served as an important platform for individuals to interact, showcase their talents, and build confidence.
Mayor Mitharam Adhikari, in his opening remarks, emphasized that ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities is a core responsibility of the municipality. He reiterated the municipality’s commitment to designing policies and programs that respond to the needs of persons with disabilities and foster a dignified and self-reliant life.
Deputy Mayor Anita Lama highlighted the importance of inclusive development and meaningful participation. She assured that the feedback and suggestions collected during the program would be incorporated into future planning and budgeting processes.
NDWA played a key role in the successful implementation of the program, contributing from the initial planning phase through to execution. The municipality expressed its commitment to using the insights gathered to make upcoming policies, programs, and budgets more inclusive and responsive.
The event marks a significant step toward ensuring equal opportunities, accessibility, and dignity for persons with disabilities. Budanilkantha Municipality reaffirmed its dedication to inclusive governance and continuous engagement, ensuring that no one is left behind.
